We’re not people really.  Our concerns are not America’s concerns.  We are just here for entertainment. We’re a convenient treasure trove of limitless creativity to be pillaged, watered down, and re-purposed for White audiences and the people getting rich from bastardized stereotypes and simplified caricatures of everything we bring to the table have nothing to say when shit gets really real.

Perspective.

"Looting? I thought these were supposed to be nonviolent protests"

I know it’s incredible! People are literally coming out of the woodwork to comment on this photoset to focus on the looting headline with “well yes it is nice they were helping people hit with the tear gas, but stealing is still wrong uwu” as if they’re back to kindergarten morality.

Like everyone who’s gone to boot camp I’ve been tear gassed. They put about 50+ of you in a gas chamber and toss it in. You have to stay there until your rank is allowed to exit. Before that though, you have to say your name, rank, and social security number. You then exit and file into ranks (again) outside and are not allowed at any point to rinse your face or eyes for the entire day.

That right there? Easily the worst part of boot camp. My eyes were literally swollen shut. I was blinded for a good 30 minutes and my chest hurt for days.

I have zero problem and not and ounce of judgement for people raiding a mcdonalds that can easily afford to repair damage for ANYTHING to help ease the shittiness that is being tear gassed. Esp because every one of us in boot were medically sound to deal with tear gas. Children, asthmatics, people prone to panic and anxiety attacks, the elderly as sooo many more are NOT going to handle tear gas well at ALL.

Or that smoke the police use either.

It’s easy to sit there and judge someone from the safety of your home and say things like “it’s just tear gas” or “it can’t be that bad”.

Fuck you. As someone who HAS been gassed, you need to stfu.

I remember all the preparation they did to get us ready for the gas chamber in boot camp. We were taught how to handle ourselves, how to control our breathing, not to touch anything, how to avoid the worst of the gas. But it still didn’t matter. I remember taking in that first breath and feeling like I had just been kicked in the chest. I remember a few guys in my platoon falling down and vomiting. We knew the gas wasn’t as bad on the floor but we were the fifth platoon through and the vomit kept us from bending over more than absolutely necessary. I remember a few guys, guys in peak health training to be infantrymen, breaking ranks and running for the door only to be dragged back in kicking and screaming until they said name, rank and serial. They were expecting it, trained for it, bragging about how it wouldn’t bother them.
I remember standing there with all of the mucus from my nasal cavity on the front of my ACUs and thinking to myself “This is the nonviolent option?”
Covered head to toe and my skin still itching I looked down at the silver wedding band hanging next to my dog tags and realized that the gas had eaten little pits into its surface.
I stood there and thought of all the news reports I had seen over the years. The uprisings and revolutionaries being gassed, the crowds running from men in masks.
That’s the moment I got it, staring at my ruined wedding band, that’s the moment I realized terrorism isn’t about bombs or who is using them. It’s about controlling people through fear. It’s about removing their ability to act reasonably, to make them seem like the monsters. Terrorism is about triggering people to fight or flight then blaming them for not being rational. It’s about power. Remove someone’s power to act with reason, and you remove their humanity.

Tear gas

Do not wear contact lenses if you are in a situation where you may be tear-gassed.  When I went through basic training, we were warned that there was a possibility the tear gas they were using could melt contact lenses.

"Shot in the head last night by police"
tonytonytony70

Keep in mind that the police were vehemently stating that it was not them who shot her and it was a drive by of a group of Black guys. They were probably praying that this girl died so no one would find out the truth. Well guess what? We have another testimony against the Ferguson police in court for blatantly lying like how they are doing now with not telling the truth about Michael Brown.

Y’all I was friends with Mya at HU, she is a peaceful person and would never do anything to deserve a bullet to the head. She’s slowly recovering, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers

11 things white people should stop saying to black people immediately

Whenever a black youth like Michael Brown gets shot, or a racist blowhard like Donald Sterling gets exposed, many white people on and off the Internet react with remarks brimming with the ugliness of anti-black racism. And it absolutely has to stop.

It is safe to acknowledge that police disproportionately profile black people in this country on a daily basis but I really hope this doesn’t turn into a race issue.

At this point, it’s police vs the people. Police have made themselves the enemy of humanity, that should be the focus. Don’t let them divide us like they have in the past and don’t ever forget we have the numbers. Where there is unity, there is strength!

@getinvolvedyoulivehere- I need you to stop. Stop for a second and absorb what I am going to say. This isn’t a matter of perspective. This is about ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Okay? Here we go.

It IS a race based issue. The friends of Mike Brown said verbatim that they were just walking back to their homes together and a police car chased them down the street, blocked the way out, and GRABBED MIKE BY HIS NECK and held him and shot him. Not once, not twice, or several times, but MUCH MORE THAN SEVERAL.

Then how did the police respond? THE POLICE LITERALLY BLOCKADED THE ENTIRE AREA AND THE GOVERNMENT DECLARED FERGUSON A ‘TERRORIST STATE’ AND SENT MILITIA INTO PEOPLE’S NEIGHBORHOODS. They actually fired the EXACT SAME tear gas cannisters the militia used IN GAZA AGAINST PALESTINIANS AGAINST THESE PEOPLE IN FERGUSON. THEY DECLARED FERGUSON A ‘NO FLY ZONE.’ Then you know what the media did? The media started painting Mike Brown as a THUG opposed to the super sweet boy he was that LITERALLY didn’t even want to join the football team because he didn’t want to ‘hurt other people.’

There was literally a live stream where a cop said, “You animals, BRING IT ON!” live on camera. A police offer also literally ASSAULTED and HELD DOWN a black man casually walking in Ferguson the other day. Then if you saw the stream last night, you literally heard and saw the police saying that they weren’t allowed to record. THEY BLACK LISTED THE FERGUSON HASH TAG ON TWITTER AND PREVENTED THE MEDIA FROM REPORTING WHAT WAS GOING ON.

You know what happened when people tried to call the Ferguson police department? THEY CALLED US MONKEYS. THEY LITERALLY CALLED US MONKEYS. You know what happened when some people looted some stores? IT FUELED THIS MASSIVE RACIAL STEREOTYPED THAT WASHED OVER THE MEDIA AND PAINTED US AS SOME ANGRY BLACK ANIMALS THAT AREN’T PRACTICING MLK’S SENTIMENTS.

This doesn’t happen with white protestors. Doesn’t happen with West Boro Baptist Church or at abortion clinics in super white dominated areas.

Stop it. It isn’t just about the US being a police state. THIS ISSUE IS ABOUT RACE THAT’S FUNNELED THROUGH A POLICE STATE SYSTEM.

IT IS about race. IT IS about race. IT IS about race.

I also have fucking receipts. For everything. GO THROUGH my Mike Brown and Ferguson tags. GO THROUGH my police and police brutality tags.

Don’t you DARE try to say that it’s about the police being against everyone. It is NOT. The entire SYSTEM is built on an institution of slavery and Mike Brown’s situation is reflected IN THE NUANCES AND BETWEEN THE LINES.

They LITERALLY LEFT HIS BODY DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND A GIRL WAS JUST FUCKING KILLED YESTERDAY FOR POSTING ABOUT MIKE BROWN.

Open your fucking eyes. Please STOP being so willfully ignorant. Stop it.

WE CAN NOT HAVE UNITY WHEN THE SYSTEM ITSELF DIVIDES US.

Stop. Evaluate yourself. Read, read it again. Evaluate yourself again and learn and understand.
